Brighid thought of a good idea (and I'm not just saying that cause she is within step-on-my-foot range)
Because we all have differant ideas of what we like and what works with our particular armors... what do you all think of taking turns on cape design? Likely we would swap out the designer ever month, and the fairness and history would be maintained by Brighid. That way guildies (well the main regulars and vocal ones of us in the guild) would have a chance to have thier favorite design for a time (something not many other guilds offer I am sure) and naturally if the choice at the time is not one that suits your opinion you can disable it till the next round comes about. And if someone like the cape that is current when it is there turn, they could choose to keep it or they could tweak it, or they could (if they choose) forgo their turn (cape design is not for everyone and some flat do not care).
Also it would be a good idea for that months current designer to post up a few options and ask for a vote (unless they have had one they have been dying to dye just so). Figure they could not be mad at the voted choice as it would be one of thier designs and it would extend some curtesy to the rest of the guild to have some options.
Naturally, the winner would have to post the cape or at least email it to me as the GL is the only one that can make the changes I believe. And I would have Brighid here to help me make sure the color and style matches the original design.
Now as for cost. Providing we vote this proposition into effect... the guild is extending an offer out that I believe to be fairly rare out in GW land (too many tunnel visioned GLs out there) and so I think it only fair that the winning designer would pay for thier design (cape mods cost a standard 2 platinum) And I do not think it right for me to pull money from the Sage account for something that not everyone will be happy with (plus it will already require character building time to impliment each design
Now in the unlikely event that Tamori's big fingers draw a big lime slash across your design or otherwise botch the colors and smudge the emblem) then I will pay for up to one correction to make the cape as per designer wishes.
Heh might be kinda funny (for those that are really ambitious) to change the cape each week in their month which would allow a little more pazzaze on accasion. That said, I appriciate everyones current thoughts towards having the cape flow with the guilds full name in its design concept. (i.e. skullls and beer do not really go with Serene Ambassadors of Guidance to Enlightenment
As for who gets to go when, I think we should keep names in a hat and draw. You only get one turn a year, and you have to be a member for at least 2 months before your name goes in the hat (and you have to be wanting to participate and pay for your design) Not to worry, people that are here now are granted entrance into the hat with out the two month wait)

i'm not very vocal in guild and i'm not so much a regular player 
Look on the guild allaiance rooster and see Sage with a diffrent cape and think "New guild join? What happen to the last guild?!" (Note I tend to look at the cape long before the name) Not too mention the other guild with the [Sage] in their title that we stumble into that one game
